ABOUT US
One Global Mile is a worldwide celebration of community through running. On a single day each year, runners from towns and cities across the globe step onto their local mile courses together—uniting in a shared moment of movement that celebrates accessibility, community, and the universal joy of running.
The idea is simple: one mile, run anywhere in the world, on the same day. Each participating city organizes its own local mile event, reflecting the unique terrain, culture, weather, and spirit of its community. Whether the course runs through historic streets, along coastal roads, across village paths, or through city centers, every participant becomes part of a global movement happening simultaneously around the world.
One Global Mile welcomes everyone. Elite runners chasing fast times, weekend joggers, walkers, families with children, and lifelong athletes all share the same course and the same moment. The event celebrates participation over competition and reminds us that running is one of the most universal and accessible forms of human movement.
The initiative was inspired by the inaugural Hudson Mile in Hudson, New York, and its sister mile event in Dhaka, Bangladesh, which joined together in 2025 to demonstrate how local races in different parts of the world could connect through a single shared day of running. Building on that spirit, One Global Mile continues to grow as race directors from AIMS member events across the world join together to represent their cities and countries.
Each participating event remains locally organized and uniquely its own, but all are connected by a common purpose:
One Mile • One Day • One World
Together, these miles create a powerful reminder that while our courses may be different, the spirit of running unites us all.
